Dongjak-gu to Host 'Ipap Tree Blossom Festival' at Soongsil University on the 26th
About 2,000 Residents to Participate
A Rich Array of Activities and Performances Awaits
Dongjak-gu District in Seoul (District Mayor Park Il-ha) will host the '10th Ipap Tree Blossom Festival' on April 26, 2026, near the main gate of Soongsil University (369 Sangdo-ro).
This year’s festival, set against the backdrop of white Ipap tree blossoms, will be held under the theme "The 10th Spring Snow Blossom Together." It is designed as a family-friendly event created and participated in by local residents. The festival will run from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the day and is expected to attract around 2,000 residents.
The pre-event program will begin with a performance by the Eunbit Senior Choir, followed by traditional Korean music and a trot stage. The main event will feature resident-participation singing performances, a magic balloon show, and a performance by the Soongsil University band.
At 5 p.m., the highlight of the festival—the opening ceremony—will take place. To commemorate the 10th anniversary, diverse cultural programs have been prepared, including the 'Ipap Performance,' an electronic violin and popera collaboration, a royal court dance recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage, and a cheerleading performance.
The festival grounds will also be filled with games and food. Experience booths will be set up, including an inflatable playground for children, Lego play, sticker tattoos, pen decorating, balloon art, and board games. The food market will feature dishes such as Pajeon (Korean scallion pancake), Tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), and Sotteok Sotteok (sausage and rice cake skewers).
There will also be a "Flower Exchange for Spring" event, where bringing a transparent PET bottle can be exchanged for a potted spring flower (limited to the first 400 participants). An eco-friendly ESG "photo zone" will be available, set against the Ipap tree blossom path. The district plans to ensure safety by deploying volunteers and safety personnel throughout the site and cooperating with relevant agencies including the police and fire departments.
