BYD Korea Denies SEAL Is an Outdated Model... "Exclusive Model for Korea"
"BYD Thoroughly Separates Domestic and Export Product Strategies"
BYD Korea has firmly denied recent controversy regarding its newly launched electric sedan model, the SEAL, being an outdated model.
On the 24th, BYD Korea stated, "We would like to clarify our position regarding concerns raised by some media outlets and online communities about whether an outdated version of the SEAL is being sold in Korea," and added, "The SEAL released in the Korean market is not simply an old model or unsold inventory vehicle."
The company explained, "BYD strictly distinguishes between vehicles for the Chinese domestic market and those for export in both development and production," and continued, "This is to reflect each country's legal regulations, certification requirements, road environments, and consumer needs."
The company further emphasized, "BYD's product launch and model lifecycle are completely different from those of existing global automakers. While traditional automakers supply the same model to global markets within several months or a year after a new vehicle launch, BYD thoroughly separates its product strategies for the domestic and export markets."
BYD Korea added that the model sold in Korea is specifically configured for the Korean market, taking into account local certification standards and customer demand.
BYD Korea stated, "All vehicles delivered to customers will be 2026 model year cars produced this year at BYD's headquarters factory," and added, "The SEAL model currently sold in China was developed exclusively for the Chinese domestic market and is not being sold in Korea or any other region outside of China."
