CLC: "Second Post-Adjustment Negotiation Between Samsung Electronics Management and Labor Ends"...To Resume Tomorrow Morning (Comprehensive)
Samsung Electronics management and labor held their second post-adjustment negotiation on the 18th, but ultimately failed to reach a conclusion. They agreed to meet again on the 19th for final coordination efforts.
The Central Labor Commission (CLC) announced in a notice that the first day of the second post-adjustment meeting between Samsung Electronics management and labor, which began at 10 a.m., ended at 6:20 p.m. The commission added that the second day of discussions will be held at the same venue.
At approximately 6:26 p.m., Seungho Choi, Chairman of the Samsung Group Ultra-Enterprise Labor Union Samsung Electronics Branch, left the CLC negotiation room at the Government Complex Sejong and briefly told reporters, "The union is sincerely engaging in the negotiations." He declined to provide a definitive answer to further questions about the progress of the negotiations.

Earlier that morning, both sides had convened for the second post-adjustment meeting at the CLC in the Government Complex Sejong. It was reported that they still could not narrow their differences on key issues, such as the abolition of the performance bonus cap and the institutionalization of the related system.
This second post-adjustment negotiation was conducted at the request of both parties, with CLC Chairman Park Sugun serving as the sole mediator. During the negotiations, Chairman Park told reporters, "The two sides are still on parallel lines, and there has been no progress so far."

Management and labor are scheduled to meet again the following day for final coordination on major issues, including the abolition and institutionalization of the performance bonus cap. A mediation proposal may be presented as early as that day. Currently, the Ultra-Enterprise Labor Union, which represents the union side, has announced plans to begin an 18-day general strike starting on the 21st.
