Baek Hyun-jin, a member of the People Power Party, hinted that he intends to participate in the vote on the impeachment motion against President Yoon Seok-yeol scheduled for the 14th. Baek revealed that his absence from the vote on the impeachment motion on the 7th was a "mistake."
On the same day, Baek stated through social media (SNS), "I will participate in the vote this week." He also told reporters at the National Assembly, "I will enter the vote," and added, "I agree that the collective absence from the first vote was a major mistake by the party."
Earlier, Kim Sang-wook, a member of the People Power Party, not only said he would participate in the impeachment vote on the 14th but also expressed support for it. Kim said, "I urge the president to apologize and resign immediately," adding, "Based on the conservative value judgment standards of constitutional order and the spirit of protecting liberal democracy, and with a deeply apologetic heart, I support the upcoming impeachment vote against the president who planned an unconstitutional and anti-democratic martial law." Kim also said, "There are lawmakers discussing this together," and "When the time comes, we will share the same will." However, he added, "It is difficult to assert the exact number, but there are enough votes for the impeachment motion to pass."
