On the 31st of last month, Mayor Hong responded to a question posted on his online political community 'Cheongnyeon-ui Kkum' (Youth's Dream) regarding the ruling, stating, "Seonkyung Textile's rise to becoming a major SK telecommunications conglomerate was largely due to President Roh Tae-woo selecting SK as the mobile telecommunications operator."

Earlier, on the 30th of last month, the Family Division 2 of the Seoul High Court ruled in the divorce lawsuit between Chairman Chey and Director Noh, ordering "the plaintiff (Chairman Chey) to pay the defendant (Director Noh) 2 billion KRW in alimony and 1.3808 trillion KRW in property division." The legal representatives of Chairman Chey announced on the same day that they plan to file a police complaint for defamation against an unidentified individual who first leaked the divorce ruling document online. The chairman's side stated, "Since the 31st of last month, we have confirmed that the entire ruling document has been circulating on some social media (SNS) and online communities," adding, "Unauthorized distribution of the ruling document containing private conversations among family members, including children, is a serious criminal act."
