BTOB's Jung Ilhoon Accused of Habitual Drug Use for 5 Years... Purchased Marijuana with Cryptocurrency
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] On the 21st, it was reported that Jung Il-hoon, a member of the group BTOB, was caught by the police on charges of habitual drug use.
On the same day, Channel A reported, "Jung Il-hoon was caught by the police on charges of habitual drug use. To avoid the investigation, he purchased marijuana using cryptocurrency instead of cash. His enlistment in the military during the police investigation has also become a controversy."
According to Channel A, during the police drug investigation earlier this year, Jung's marijuana smoking charges were detected.
The police, based on testimonies from accomplices and account tracking, found that Jung Il-hoon had smoked marijuana multiple times with acquaintances from about 4 to 5 years ago until last year. It was also reported that drug substances were detected in Jung's hair and other samples.
The police are also focusing on the method of drug purchase to evade the investigation. It was investigated that when Jung deposited cash into a third-party account, an acquaintance converted the money into cryptocurrency to buy marijuana.
Channel A reported that in July, the police handed over Jung Il-hoon and his accomplices to the prosecution on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.
