This year’s event will be held on June 7.
To mark the 30th anniversary, and in response to increased demand and to revitalize the local economy, the event will be held simultaneously in two locations: Seongsan-eup and Gujwa-eup.
The 10km course will start at Goseong Sunrise Sports Complex in Seongsan-eup and will run through the Seongsan area. The full course and half course will start at Gujwa Sports Complex and proceed along the Sumbi Coastal Road in Gujwa.
The Sumbi Coastal Road was designated last year by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport as Korea’s first official tourism road, and the Seongsan course features the world natural heritage site Seongsan Ilchulbong and Gwangchigi Beach as its backdrop.
Last year’s event saw the participation of approximately 10,000 people, including 8,900 pre-registered runners and on-site participants. This year, with the event being spread across more locations, the number of participants is expected to increase even further.
Participants will receive a sports brand T-shirt and souvenirs, and awards will be presented by event category and age group. In particular, the winners of the full marathon and half marathon will receive special privileges to participate in overseas marathon competitions.
Recruitment of foreign participants will be conducted as well, with special benefits planned for international organizations and groups.
Applications can be submitted until April 17 through the official website of the Jeju International Tourism Marathon Festival, and registration may close early if capacity is reached.
