Viewing Restrictions on Auctioned Property Information... Five Auction Information Companies Establish Voluntary Personal Data Regulation
Viewing of Sale Details Restricted for Concluded Properties
Names of Owners and Debtors to Be De-Identified
Five domestic auction information companies, including Jiji Auction, are taking the initiative to establish self-regulation measures aimed at strengthening personal data protection.
According to Jiji Auction on May 13, Jiji Auction, Digital Taein, Speed Auction, Auction One, and Tank Auction participated in a joint declaration ceremony for auction information providers held on May 6 at the Jiji Auction headquarters in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
This declaration was promoted in line with the intent of the Personal Information Protection Act and the government's policy to prevent charter fraud. The five companies agreed that, as the significance of personal data protection in auction information services grows, a responsible industry-wide response is required.
Going forward, these five companies plan to restrict general users from viewing original files of documents such as the details of sale, property status reports, appraisal reports, certified copies of registration, and resident confirmation certificates for properties whose auction procedures have concluded. In addition, personal names of individuals such as owners, debtors, and tenants exposed in auction case information will be de-identified to further enhance personal data protection.
