Samsung Asset Management Marks 10th Anniversary of 'Samsung Global Active Qualified TDF' Series
Cumulative Return of 121.5% for 2045(H)
Industry's Most Diverse, Customized Lineup Established
Samsung Asset Management announced on April 21 that its 'Samsung Global Active Qualified TDF' series is celebrating its 10th anniversary since launch.
The Samsung Global TDF is a lifecycle asset allocation fund that automatically adjusts the ratio of stocks and bonds according to the investor's retirement timeline. When it was first launched in April 2016, it was called the 'Samsung Korea Style TDF,' but it has since been renamed to 'Samsung Global Active TDF.'
Samsung Asset Management explained that it delivered robust performance as an investment product to domestic investors who had previously focused on principal-guaranteed products, under the slogan "Set it and Forget it!"—offering a simple and comfortable investment experience. At the time of launch, the 'Samsung Global TDF 2045(H)' posted a cumulative return of 121.5% over 10 years. Other products released at the same time, Samsung Global TDF 2040(H) and 2035(H), also recorded returns of 112.9% and 104.7%, respectively.
An official from Samsung Asset Management commented, "Behind this achievement is the company's unique management philosophy, embodied in the Global Portfolio Investment Committee (GPIC) system. Rather than reacting to short-term market fluctuations, we have achieved both downside protection in bear markets and profitability in bull markets by diversifying globally across high-quality assets based on a lifecycle asset allocation glide path."
In addition, Samsung Asset Management has continuously expanded its TDF lineup to respond to various investor preferences and changing market conditions. In 2020, it launched the 'Samsung Global EMP TDF,' which utilizes individual ETFs as building blocks for portfolios—drawing investor interest with low costs and operational transparency. In 2022, the company listed the 'KODEX TDF ETF,' enabling investors to directly trade TDFs in the stock market.
Jeon Yongwoo, Head of Pension OCIO Division at Samsung Asset Management, said, "TDFs are ultra-long-term investment products designed to accompany investors for several decades until retirement. Over the next 10 years, we will provide advanced retirement solutions tailored to each customer's lifestyle, and through the Samsung TDF series, we aim to help make a comfortable retirement a reality for our clients."
