Jeong Pleads for Leniency... Park Requests Severe Punishment
The Supreme Court has finalized a prison sentence for a man who stole goods worth tens of millions of won from the home of television personality Narae Park.
According to the legal community on April 20, the first division of the Supreme Court, presided over by Justice Shin Sookhee, upheld the lower court's sentence of two years in prison for Jeong (38), who was indicted on charges of theft and nighttime home invasion. On April 16, the Supreme Court dismissed Jeong's appeal, finding his grounds for appeal to be unjustified.
Jeong was put on trial for breaking into Narae Park's home in Yongsan-gu, Seoul last April and stealing goods worth tens of millions of won before fleeing the scene. He also attempted to dispose of the stolen items as stolen property. During the investigation, Jeong claimed that he was unaware the house belonged to Park.
In the first trial, held in September 2025, the court sentenced Jeong to two years in prison, noting that "the defendant admitted to the charges and returned the stolen goods to the victim," but also pointing out his previous convictions for similar offenses and the high value of the stolen items. Jeong was taken into custody immediately after the sentencing.
In February, the appellate court also dismissed Jeong's appeal, stating, "The crime was committed during a probation period, and there are no new circumstances compared to the first trial." Although Jeong compensated for the damages and pleaded for leniency, Park, the victim, refused to settle and requested a severe punishment.
