Seongsan-gu in Changwon Special City, Gyeongsangnam-do has launched hygiene training initiatives to enhance the sanitation standards of local dining establishments.

On April 20, Seongsan-gu conducted a lecture on food safety management at the 2026 Hygiene Training for Existing Operators of General Restaurants, hosted by the Seongsan-gu branch of the Korea Foodservice Industry Association’s Gyeongnam Chapter.
Existing operators of general restaurants are required to complete three hours of hygiene training each year. Failure to do so will result in a fine.
The main topics of the lecture included major revisions to the Food Sanitation Act in 2026, key compliance matters for the handling of food and obligations for business operators, administrative disposition standards under the Food Sanitation Act, and prevention of food poisoning, with a focus on improving business owners' hygiene management capabilities.
