Iran Civil Aviation Organization to Partially Reopen Airspace to Civilian Flights After 49-Day Closure
The Iranian government announced on April 18 (local time) that it would partially reopen its eastern airspace to international flights. This comes 49 days after Iranian airspace was closed due to the Middle East war.
According to AFP on the same day, the Iran Civil Aviation Organization stated, "The eastern air routes will be opened to international aircraft passing through Iran." It also reported that some airports resumed operations at 7 a.m. that day.

However, AFP noted that, according to flight tracking websites, even three hours after the announcement, aircraft were still avoiding Iranian airspace by taking alternate routes, and no aircraft had crossed Iranian airspace. Previously, on February 28, after the United States and Israel carried out airstrikes on Iran, the Iran Civil Aviation Organization announced an indefinite closure of the country's airspace on the same day.
