Over the course of the first semester, the program will be conducted sequentially for 19 selected classes in the area, chosen through a prior application process.
In April, the first lessons were held at Gyeongsan Jeil High School and Gyeongsan Seobu Elementary School.
The curriculum takes a participatory approach, with expert instructors visiting schools to give lectures on the theory of carbon neutrality while also leading upcycling activities that utilize discarded resources from everyday life.
Students who participated in the program gained a firsthand appreciation for the value of resource circulation and showed strong interest in practicing recycling in their daily lives.
Kim Jae-wan, Director of the Environment Division of Gyeongsan City, emphasized the importance of awareness and action in daily life in responding to the climate crisis, expressing hope that this program will help students naturally understand the necessity of carbon neutrality.
