Line Games Launches Co-CEO System with Donghyun Cho and Youngjin Bae to Expand Global Competitiveness
Line Games announced on April 17 that it has appointed Donghyun Cho, the current CEO, and Youngjin Bae, the former Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), as its new co-CEOs. Through this co-CEO system, the company plans to enhance its global competitiveness in the gaming business and focus on strengthening organizational capabilities to respond swiftly to the changing market environment.
Co-CEO Cho graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Seoul National University and previously served as Head of Development and Head of New Business at Nexon Korea. In 2014, he founded the game development company Superawesome and continues to serve as its CEO.
In 2023, he joined Line Games as Chief Operating Officer (COO), where he successfully led the launch and market establishment of 'The War of Genesis: Mobile.' Based on this achievement, he was appointed as co-CEO around March of the following year and has since overseen the company's overall business operations.
New Co-CEO Bae is an investment expert who graduated from the Department of Business Administration at Seoul National University. He worked at PIA PE and Nexon's investment division before founding the game company Mobile Factory.
Until 2023, he served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) at Line Games. More recently, he established and operated Tail Ventures, a venture capital firm specializing in early-stage investments in the medical and healthcare sectors.
With the launch of the co-CEO system, Line Games plans to accelerate efforts to strengthen its business competitiveness. Led by 'Amber and Blade,' the company will unveil more than three new PC game titles within the year. In the mobile sector, it aims to target the global market by launching 'Uncharted Waters Origin' in China and 'The War of Genesis: Mobile' globally.
The company's mobile multi-title strategy, which started with 'Fairytale Quest' and 'Animal Busters,' will also be further accelerated.
