"Public to Directly Select Science Festival Programs"...To Be Held at KINTEX from April 24 to 26
Ministry of Science and ICT to Hold Online Voting from April 20 to 22
117 Organizations and 319 Programs to Participate
The government is introducing a participatory event where the public can directly select science festival programs.
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on April 19 that, together with the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, it will conduct a public voting event from April 20 to 22 to select the main exhibition and hands-on programs for the upcoming "2026 Korea Science Festival with Korea Science & Technology Exhibition."
This science festival will take place from April 24 to 26 at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, with 117 organizations participating and a total of 319 programs being showcased.
The government aims to boost public interest in advance through this vote and to reflect public demand in future science culture events. Participants can select three out of 19 candidate programs they are most interested in through the festival portal, and prizes will be awarded by lottery.
At the event, attendees can explore representative research achievements that have driven Korea’s industry over the past 60 years, alongside future technologies. Key technologies such as aramid fiber, WiBro, industrial robots, ultra-high-voltage power transmission technology, and Korean high-speed trains will be showcased, as well as future research results including AI transformation (AX), next-generation strategic technologies, and the K-Moonshot Project.
The range of hands-on programs has also been greatly expanded. Science and culture content will be available, such as the "Science Masterpieces Gallery" where AI interprets classic artworks, AI-based music and image creation programs, and screenings of short science fiction films.
In addition, physical AI experiences such as an AI robot boxing show, a robot barista, an AI Omok game, and a dance challenge will be offered, along with participatory programs like the National Science Museum's mobile exhibition and the "Escape Room Bus."
During the festival, lectures on the theme of AI will also be held. Experts including Shin Jongho, Kwak Jaesik, Kim Beomjun, Hang Seong, and Seo Pangil will give talks on the changes brought by the AI era and future technologies.
