"Leading the Use of AI in Public Institutions"... Ministry of Science and ICT to Hold '2026 Public Institution AI Innovation Challenge'
The government will hold the "2026 Public Institution AI Innovation Challenge" to expand the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in public institutions. The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on April 26 that it had issued a notice regarding the "2026 Public Institution AI Innovation Challenge," which is jointly hosted with the Ministry of Economy and Finance and organized by the National Information Society Agency. The Public Institution AI Innovation Challenge is one of the tracks of the "National AI Competition," held last month under the slogan "An AI Festival for All to Enjoy Tomorrow's Possibilities." The Ministry of Science and ICT created this new track this year to encourage public institutions to take the lead in expanding the use of AI. "Startup" Ukraine vs. "Artisan" Russia: Drones Decide the Outcome [Tech Talk]
Editor's NoteThis series explains in simple terms the essential yet often unfamiliar technologies that shape our lives, from AI and semiconductors to telecommunications and biotechnology. The main player in the Russia-Ukraine war, now in its fifth year, is the drone. Although Ukraine is overwhelmingly outmatched by Russia in terms of economy, population, and military strength, it has emerged as a formidable force in drone warfare, successfully pushing back invading forces. Observers note that Ukraine's strength lies not just in its technological capabilities, but in its adoption of Western startup systems, such as those seen in Silicon Valley, within its military. Analysts suggest that the future battlefield will depend less on firepower and more on organizational cultures that foster innovation. Ukraine Challenges Russia Despite Fourfold Population Gap Ukraine is pushing back Russian invasion forces using drones. According to a report by The Times of the UK on April 14 (local time),
[Into the World of AI] Musk Sparks Rumors of a Microsoft-OpenAI Split
There are growing observations that the close relationship between Microsoft (MS) and OpenAI is breaking down and that the two companies are preparing to part ways. While both sides have previously insisted that "there are no issues with the partnership" whenever signs of discord were detected, these observations are gaining traction as the lawsuit involving Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, becomes more serious. "OpenAI Has Lost Its Original Intent" vs "Elon Musk's Interference"According to industry sources on April 25, the lawsuit Musk filed against OpenAI and MS will enter the courtroom phase starting with jury selection on April 27 (local time). The central allegation is that OpenAI broke its founding promise of developing nonprofit artificial intelligence (AI) and pursued private gain, with MS being deeply involved in the process. Musk claims that OpenAI co-founders, including Sam Altman, deceived him by promising to create open-source AI for the benefit of humanity, thereby leveraging hi

Seoul National University Hospital and Stanford Succeed in Developing CAR-T Cell Therapy Technology Using Curecell CD5
Researchers from Seoul National University Hospital and Stanford University in the United States have succeeded in developing a platform technology for allogeneic CAR-T cell therapy using Curecell's CD5 binder technology. This is being evaluated as an approach that can overcome the structural limitations of the conventional autologous method. On April 24, Seoul National University Hospital announced that the team led by Professors Ko Young-il and Kang Hyeong-jin at the National Strategic Technology Specialized Research Institute had achieved this result through a multi-institutional collaboration with Professor Matthew Porteus’s team at the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy (CDCM) at Stanford University and Curecell. The research findings were presented at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR 2026) Annual Meeting on April 20. T-cell lymphoma is a disease with a high unmet medical need, as treatment outcomes are poorer compared to B-cell lymphoma and its incidence rate is h
"Drones Carry, Robots Deliver to the Doorstep"... First Step for Unmanned Delivery Demonstration
For the first time in South Korea, an unmanned logistics service that enables 'doorstep delivery' through collaboration between drones and autonomous robots has been demonstrated. By combining high-capacity drones capable of transporting up to 40 kg with delivery robots, this initiative is seen as overcoming the limitations of conventional drone delivery. The Korea Aerospace Administration (KASA) announced on April 24 that, together with the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), it has established and begun demonstration of a 'drone-robot collaborative doorstep delivery system.' In this system, drones automatically fly goods from a logistics hub to an area near the delivery destination, after which a robot takes over to complete the last leg of the delivery to the final address. Traditional drone delivery services have been limited to transporting goods only to designated landing points, making actual doorstep delivery difficult. In contrast, by linking drones a
Naver Launches Real-Time Tab Sharing 'Multiplay' Feature on Whale Browser
NAVER announced on April 24 that it has officially launched the "Multiplay" feature for its own web browser, Whale. This feature creates a collaborative environment where users can share browser tabs in real time and communicate via voice. Whereas traditional video conferencing systems only allowed participants to view a specific presenter's screen, Multiplay enables users to open and share any internet page as a tab, allowing everyone to explore the web together. Whale, launched in 2017, has introduced various tools such as sidebar, capture, dual tab, quick search, mouse gestures, and Papago translation. The newly released Multiplay feature stands out by enhancing collaboration through real-time tab synchronization, going beyond simple screen sharing. When the host opens a tab or navigates to a site, the same page is instantly opened on all participants' browsers. Because Multiplay only shares the URL, even if a private page such as an email inbox is shared, the other party will only
