Naver Adds 495 Golf Courses Nationwide to 'Theme Weather'... Includes Briefings on Recommended Attire and Shot Strategies
On April 17, Naver announced that it will add 495 major golf courses nationwide to its "Theme Weather" service, which provides ultra-short-term forecasts based on geographic coordinates. Currently, Theme Weather supports a total of 567 locations, including 20 baseball stadiums, 9 theme parks, 13 ski resorts, 30 soccer stadiums, and 495 golf courses.
In this update, Naver emphasizes providing essential weather information for golf rounds such as ultra-short-term precipitation, wind speed, and humidity, based on latitude and longitude. The service also classifies and provides additional guidance on conditions such as fog and poor visibility, which are important when it is difficult to identify golf holes or greens.
In addition, by utilizing HyperCLOVA X, Naver delivers briefings on key environmental variables, recommended attire, and shot strategies tailored to specific round times, based on precise time-segmented forecast data. It also provides guidance for round booking and scheduling by using weekly forecast data from 3 to 8 days in advance.

Users can search for specific themed locations on the Naver Weather homepage and, by adding them to their areas of interest, check weather forecasts for those locations. A Naver representative said, "We have launched golf courses as a new theme, as golfers are particularly sensitive to weather conditions during outdoor rounds," adding, "Within the first half of the year, we also plan to add a 'hiking' theme to Theme Weather, centered around the nation’s top 100 mountains."
