More than 40 participants attended, including officials from the government, public investment institutions, and investment managers from securities firms, banks, and insurance companies, as well as the Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in New York.
Northleaf Capital Partners, a global asset management company, delivered a presentation emphasizing that the mid-market segment in the North American infrastructure investment market structurally offers superior investment opportunities. In the infrastructure market, the mid-market generally refers to deals involving companies with an enterprise value of approximately USD 1 billion or less. Recently, depending on market conditions and asset manager criteria, this range has expanded to include deals up to around USD 2 billion.
Jared Waldron, Co-Head of Infrastructure, stated, "Although about 86% of all North American infrastructure investment transactions take place in the mid-market, institutional investor funds are still concentrated in large and mega funds. As a result, we are able to secure investment opportunities in a relatively less competitive environment in the mid-market."
Jessica Kennedy, Managing Director, who also presented at the forum, said, "Mid-market infrastructure is an area where differentiated results can be achieved through a relatively less competitive deal-sourcing environment, active value creation post-acquisition, and a variety of exit options. Based on this, investors can expect attractive risk-adjusted returns."
Yuryoung Kim, Head of KIC's New York office, who organized the event, stated, "We expect that this forum will help domestic institutional investors establish practical investment strategies as they diversify their overseas alternative investment portfolios."
