View original imageThe final report meeting was attended by Paju City Deputy Mayor Choi Byeong-gap, the head of the Culture and Education Bureau, the policy chief, relevant department heads, the CEO of Paju DMZ Gondola, and representatives from the design service company. During the meeting, participants comprehensively reviewed the results of the basic and detailed designs conducted to date and shared plans for future construction.
This "Skywalk Installation" project aims to create a barrier-free pedestrian environment along the steep walkway connecting the upper station of the Imjingak Peace Gondola to Camp Greaves, ensuring safe and convenient access for everyone. The project also seeks to expand essential infrastructure to improve convenience for tourists.
The final report covered user-centric design elements, including: the final structural design for safety; slope and route planning accommodating people with mobility challenges such as wheelchair users, those with strollers, and the elderly; the layout of observation and rest areas; and plans for an outdoor stage suitable for small-scale performances.
Choi Byeong-gap, Deputy Mayor of Paju City, stated, "This final report meeting will help thoroughly review every aspect of the skywalk design and enhance its completeness. Even during the construction phase, we will prioritize safety and strive to create a premium walkway that is easily accessible to everyone, including tourists and those with mobility challenges."

The "Imjingak Peace Gondola Skywalk Installation" project was selected as a 2025 Gyeonggi Province tourism site and cultural tourism resource development initiative, with a total budget of 3.57 billion won, funded equally by 1.785 billion won from the provincial government and 1.785 billion won from the city government. The basic and detailed design services have been completed, and construction is set to begin in April with the goal of completion by December.
