Professor Won Kim of Boramae Medical Center Wins Grand Prize at the Yuhan Medical Award
Associate Professor Seungchan Yoo and Assistant Professor Yura Ahn Selected for the Young Medical Scientist Award
Yuhan Corporation and the Seoul Medical Association held the 59th Yuhan Medical Award ceremony on the 15th at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Sogong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, and announced on the 16th that Professor Won Kim of the Department of Internal Medicine at Boramae Medical Center, Seoul National University College of Medicine, was selected as the recipient of the Grand Prize of the Yuhan Medical Award.

View original imageThe Young Medical Scientist Award was given to Associate Professor Seungchan Yoo of the Department of Biomedical Systems Informatics at Yonsei University College of Medicine and Assistant Professor Yura Ahn of the Department of Radiology at Seoul Asan Medical Center, University of Ulsan College of Medicine. The Grand Prize winner received a prize of 50 million won, and each recipient of the Young Medical Scientist Award received a prize of 15 million won.
Professor Kim was highly recognized for his achievements in meticulously tracking individual genetic regulatory patterns in patients with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), laying an important foundation for developing personalized diagnostic and therapeutic targets. Associate Professor Yoo was honored for addressing clinical issues at the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and cardiology, establishing a new paradigm for atrial fibrillation prevention. Assistant Professor Ahn provided evidence supporting careful consideration of preoperative lung tissue biopsy in patients strongly suspected of lung cancer on imaging when lung segmentectomy is planned.

The Yuhan Medical Award, organized by the Seoul Medical Association and sponsored by Yuhan Corporation, was established in 1967 with the purpose of laying the foundation for the future advancement of medicine and inspiring medical researchers' enthusiasm for research. As the oldest medical award in Korea, it has produced more than 100 distinguished recipients who represent the Korean medical community, firmly establishing itself as the nation's most prestigious academic award system.
