Yongin City to Create 25,789 Jobs This Year... Focus on Semiconductors and Tailored Employment
City Raises Job Creation Target by 578 Over Last Year
Realizing "Yongin, a City of Happiness and Jobs for All"
Yongin Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Sangil) is implementing its employment policy this year with the goal of creating 25,789 jobs.
On the 16th, the city announced that it had established the '2026 Yongin Special City Employment Project Implementation Plan,' setting a goal of identifying 25,789 jobs, which is 578 more than last year's target of 25,211 jobs.
Yongin City will promote its employment policy under the vision of "Yongin, a city of happiness and jobs for all," focusing on four key strategies.
The four key strategies are strengthening job infrastructure, providing tailored job support for each demographic group, establishing a sustainable employment environment, and creating jobs in regionally specialized core industries.
First, the city plans to strengthen job infrastructure to resolve the mismatch between job supply and demand and to enhance the functions of local employment services.
Specifically, the city will expand user-centered job counseling, vocational training, and both ad-hoc and regular recruitment events, centering on the Job Center and the Women’s New Employment Center.
To provide customized jobs by demographic and generation, the city will promote various tailored employment projects, including support for mid-to-late career workers to redesign their careers, as well as jobs for seniors, jobs for people with disabilities, and self-support work programs.
For young people in particular, the city plans to support job seekers by strengthening job competency with artificial intelligence (AI) utilization, offering youth internships, and providing university student administrative work experience opportunities.
To establish a sustainable employment environment, the city will strengthen talent development and corporate support linked to the semiconductor industry, and will expand industrial complexes and infrastructure to create an advanced industrial ecosystem.
Simultaneously, projects to expand social overhead capital such as roads and railways will be carried out to increase job creation in construction-related industries.
The city will develop a support system for small business owners through the Commercial District Revitalization Center and aims to build a self-reliant foundation for social economy enterprises by supporting them as well.
In addition to building an employment ecosystem centered on the core growth axis of the semiconductor industry, the city also plans to develop jobs in regionally specialized industries such as fostering advanced agriculture production complexes.
Previously, the city identified 27,717 jobs last year, exceeding the 2025 target of 25,211 jobs by 109.94%.

A Yongin City official stated, "In line with this year's employment project plan, we will strengthen the employment infrastructure to provide quality jobs, and prepare employment policies that citizens can genuinely feel through tailored support for each demographic.
