View original imageMinkyungsun, the preliminary candidate for Mayor of Goyang and former President of Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation, who has secured a spot in the final round of the Democratic Party's primary, has officially launched a "mammoth-scale policy advisory group" comprising a large number of local university faculty members and experts, marking a peak in the policy competition.
This advisory group is centered around professors specializing in advanced industries who either reside in Goyang or are affiliated with local universities such as Joongbu University and Nonghyup University, including Lee Jonggu, former Vice President of Sungkonghoe University.
In particular, there is a notable presence of experts supporting Candidate Min's pledges for the future mobility and cultural content industries. Seven professors, including Lee Heungsik (Department of Smart Mobility Engineering at Joongbu University), Kim Byeongcheol (Game Software), Hwang Moonkyu (Police Administration), and Song Indeok (Media Communication), have joined. Four additional professors from the Division of General Education for Student Growth, including Professor Jo Jinhwa, have also lent their support. Furthermore, Professors Park Sangseop and Kim Jongsik (Cooperative Management) from Nonghyup University have joined the group, further enhancing the expertise behind Candidate Min's emphasis on community economy policies.
The group will be coordinated by Kim Beomsu, Visiting Professor in the Department of Political Science and Diplomacy at Dankook University and Director of the Institute for Autonomous City Studies, who has extensive knowledge of urban development issues in Goyang, serving as a bridge between local administration and academia.
The policy advisory group will act as the "driving force for execution," ensuring the rapid implementation of Candidate Min's key pledges. Major tasks include: ▲ Operating a pilot autonomous driving zone in the city center ▲ Establishing the Lafesta e-Sports Center ▲ Developing measures to resolve conflicts related to redevelopment and reconstruction projects.
Candidate Min stated, "I will move away from ideology-centered approaches and focus solely on 'practical, livelihood-based policies' that genuinely improve the lives of citizens," adding, "I will strictly exclude populist pledges with low feasibility and selectively pursue only those pledges that have completed budget securing plans and practical reviews."
Going forward, the advisory group plans to concretize pledges across all areas—including housing, transportation, education, and welfare—through regular seminars and on-site inspections. In particular, they will develop a separate growth strategy focusing on AI and software industries to present a master plan that will enable Goyang to transform from a mere bedroom community into a self-sustaining industrial city.
