"Even children apologize when they do wrong"
On April 15, President Lee Jaemyung urged the People Power Party to issue a sincere and official apology, stating, "I am waiting for a formal and sincere apology from the People Power Party for spreading absurd rumors of gangster involvement and changing the outcome of the presidential election."
President Lee made this statement by posting on his X account (formerly Twitter), writing, "Is the People Power Party not going to apologize for fabricating and spreading the gangster rumors?"
President Lee pointed out, "Even children apologize when their wrongdoing is revealed," adding, "Now that the grave wrongdoing of the People Power Party, as a public political party, has been clearly exposed, it is time for them to apologize."
He also stated, "A member of the People Power Party, Mr. Jang, claimed that I was involved with gangsters, and the party continued to spread the gangster rumors, ultimately winning the presidential election," emphasizing, "Now that Mr. Jang's conviction has confirmed that the gangster rumors were lies, shouldn't the party at least express regret?"
President Lee further criticized, "Although these are matters of the past, if it were not for the gangster rumors, or the fabricated allegations regarding Daejang-dong corruption, the presidential election result could have been completely different," adding, "The difference was only 0.73%, less than one in a hundred people."
