With this award, Hyundai Steel has been recognized as an outstanding member for two consecutive years, following its first award in 2023 and last year’s achievement.
Since 2018, the World Steel Association has evaluated the sustainability management levels of more than 150 member companies worldwide every year, assessing factors such as climate, environment, and social responsibility, and grants certifications accordingly. The Sustainability Champion title is awarded to global ESG-leading companies that possess competitiveness in eco-friendly and carbon reduction technologies.
To be recognized as a Sustainability Champion, companies must meet three conditions: holding membership in the Sustainability Charter, being selected as a finalist or higher in the Steelie Awards, and providing environmental impact assessment data.
Hyundai Steel was named a Sustainability Charter member by satisfying nine requirements related to climate, environment, and ESG, as presented by the World Steel Association.
In addition, Hyundai Steel submitted a total of five entries to the 2025 Steelie Awards, and was selected as a finalist in two categories: innovation and sustainability. In the innovation category, the company was recognized for developing 1.8GPa-class ultra-high-strength hot stamping materials with zinc coating, while in the sustainability category, it was evaluated for advancing resource circulation between different industries using by-products.
