Early Rally: KOSPI Eyes 6,200 Mark in Morning Trade
Early Session Sees Nearly 3% Gains
Foreign and Individual Investors Lead Net Buying
On April 15, both the KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets opened strongly.
On this day, the KOSPI opened at 6,141.60, up 2.91% from the previous session. The upward momentum continued, with the index rising more than 3% and approaching the 6,200 mark.
In early trading, buying by foreign and individual investors pushed the index higher. Foreign investors recorded a net purchase of 23.5 billion won, while individual investors posted a net purchase of 449.2 billion won. In contrast, institutional investors recorded a net sale of 459 billion won.
Almost all sectors were strong. Construction (5.91%), IT services (4.35%), electrical and electronics (4.19%), insurance (3.65%), manufacturing (3.51%), and machinery and equipment (3.50%) showed notable gains. Only two sectors declined: paper and wood (-0.67%), and real estate (-0.25%).
All of the top 10 stocks by market capitalization surged. SK Hynix led the gains with a 6.0% increase, followed by SK Square (5.4%), Hyundai Motor (5.1%), Doosan Enerbility (4.4%), Samsung Electronics (4.1%), Kia (3.0%), KB Financial Group (2.9%), LG Energy Solution (2.8%), Samsung Biologics (2.1%), and Hanwha Aerospace (0.2%).
The KOSDAQ also started regular trading at 1,140.62, up 1.67% from the previous day.
In the KOSDAQ market, individual investors alone recorded a net purchase of 235.5 billion won. Foreign and institutional investors posted net sales of 115.6 billion won and 112.3 billion won, respectively.
Most sectors in the KOSDAQ also showed gains. Non-metallics (3.28%), financials (1.84%), entertainment and culture (1.43%), IT services (1.42%), construction (1.36%), and manufacturing (1.34%) posted the largest increases. In contrast, food, beverage, and tobacco (-0.63%), publishing and media replication (-0.39%), and paper and wood (-0.38%) declined.

Most of the top 10 stocks by market capitalization were strong. EcoPro BM (2.6%), Alteogen (2.4%), EcoPro (2.2%), Rainbow Robotics (1.8%), and ABL Bio (1.0%) posted the highest gains. Only LegoChem Biosciences declined, down 0.1%.
