A Forest Beneath Your Feet, the Han River Before Your Eyes... Yangcheon District Opens 224m Yongwangsan Skywalk
Barrier-Free Elevated Deck Path
A New Scenic Spot by Day and Night
Yangcheon District in Seoul (District Mayor Lee Gijae) has constructed and opened the "Yongwangsan Skywalk," an elevated walkway on Yongwangsan Mountain that stands 10 meters high and stretches 224 meters in length.
This facility, built as a barrier-free deck path with a maximum width of 3 meters, features gentle slopes throughout, allowing elderly visitors and those using strollers or wheelchairs to walk comfortably. The aerial walkway, crossing at tree waist height, offers an experience akin to walking above the forest, while its curved path, which follows the mountain terrain, allows visitors to feel close to nature. The district applied eco-friendly construction methods and repeatedly revised the design to minimize forest damage.
The main scenic spot is the circular deck adjacent to the Yongwangjeong Pavilion. The unobstructed view in every direction provides a panoramic landscape of the forest, the city, and the Han River. The previous observatory, which had its view blocked by trees, has been expanded to 255 square meters, offering ample space.
At night, 390 meters of LED line lighting installed along the railing is illuminated. The silhouette of the curved structure combined with the city nightscape creates a distinctly different atmosphere from daytime.
The Skywalk is being operated in conjunction with the "Yongwangsan Forest Cafe," which opened in December last year, and is expected to become a local landmark. Yangcheon District anticipates that the influx of visitors will help revitalize surrounding businesses.
