Songpa District to Hold "Songpa Safety Experience Event" on National Safety Day, April 16
30 Organizations, 37 Programs
Hands-On Experiences Including Fire Evacuation and VR Industrial Safety
Songpa District in Seoul will hold the "Songpa Safety Experience Event" at the Songpa Safety Experience Center (53 Seongnaecheon-ro 35-gil) on April 16 to mark the 12th National Safety Day.
National Safety Day is a legally designated memorial day established in 2014 to honor the victims of the Sewol ferry disaster and to raise safety awareness. Since 2018, the district has held large-scale safety events every year.
This year, 30 safety organizations—including Songpa Police Station, Songpa Fire Station, Korea Child Safety Foundation, Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, Korea Gas Safety Corporation, and Seoul Metro—will participate to offer a total of 37 programs. The Songpa Safety Experience Center is the only safety education facility in Seoul where visitors can experience all six areas—daily life, transportation, natural disasters, society, crime, and health—in one place.
The experience programs are designed to be hands-on and practical. Activities include fire evacuation through simulated smoke, fire extinguisher training, crime prevention experience, traffic safety training, and industrial safety training using VR. Participatory programs for children include making CPR kits, traffic safety magic cubes, and transparent umbrellas for rainy day safety. Disaster preparedness experiences for earthquakes, fires, and typhoons, as well as large-scale transportation safety experiences involving ships, aircraft, and trains, will also be offered.
