Competitiveness Review Accelerates Global Supply Chain Hub Strategy
The Busanjinhae Free Economic Zone Authority, led by Seongho Park, is accelerating its strategy to establish the economic free zone as a global supply chain hub by inspecting large-scale integrated logistics sites.
On March 18, the Busanjinhae Free Economic Zone Authority announced that it visited Dongwon BIDC, located in the hinterland of Busan New Port, to inspect the current status of integrated logistics operations and to promote on-site policies aimed at enhancing industrial competitiveness.
This visit was organized to review the achievements of companies contributing to the development of the integrated logistics industry within the zone and to directly hear about the challenges they face on-site.
On the 18th, Park Seongho, head of the Busanjinhae Free Economic Zone Authority (center), visited Dongwon BIDC and took a commemorative photo with officials.

The company provides integrated logistics services connecting land, sea, and air. Going beyond warehousing, transportation, and logistics management, it also offers high value-added logistics services such as product processing, packaging, and repackaging, and is responsible for global supply chain management functions.
Based on a logistics partner network spanning 120 partners across 24 countries, Dongwon BIDC operates the Asian logistics hub center for the global company Amway. It handles more than 10,000 TEU in annual cargo volume. As of 2024, annual sales reached 63.8 billion won.
The Amway Asia Hub Center serves as a logistics base supporting the Asian market, which accounts for approximately 80% of total sales. The Busan New Port hinterland is now regarded as expanding its role from simple logistics functions to becoming a core base for the global supply chain.
Kim Taejung, CEO of Dongwon BIDC, stated, "As a logistics hub in Northeast Asia connecting Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Africa, we continue to serve as a logistics partner for global companies," adding, "We will enhance our competitiveness by expanding value-added logistics services."
On this day, Seongho Park, head of the authority, visited the site in person to inspect major facilities and current operations. He also held a meeting with company officials to listen to their challenges and suggestions for regulatory improvements.
Based on this visit, the authority plans to develop concrete measures to support companies and improve the investment environment. The plans include expanding value-added logistics functions such as processing, assembly, and packaging, attracting global integrated logistics companies, and advancing the logistics system by connecting ports, airports, and railways.
