Local Agricultural Products Expected to Generate Income and Create Jobs
On March 10, Yeoncheon County in Gyeonggi Province announced that two organizations, Jangnam Social Cooperative Association and Gaemisan Cooperative Association, have been selected as 2026 Village Enterprises designated by the Minister of the Interior and Safety, and will officially launch their respective projects.
Following this designation, each enterprise will receive 55 million won (including a 10% self-contribution) in project funding. In addition to establishing the necessary infrastructure for business operations, they will also be granted opportunities to participate in self-reliance support projects. Through this, the county aims to establish a sustainable revenue model utilizing local resources and to invigorate a community economy led by residents.
Jangnam Social Cooperative Association will carry out a corn cultivation and sales project utilizing farmland in Yeoncheon County. By building a production system with direct participation from local residents, the cooperative seeks to establish a stable supply base for agricultural products and to increase added value by expanding direct sales and local distribution networks.
In particular, the initiative is expected to strengthen the competitiveness of local agricultural products, stimulate consumption, and establish a virtuous cycle that leads to increased farm income and job creation.
