LG Uplus Focuses on AX and Core Telecom Business... Separates Business and Product Organizations
2026 Organizational Restructuring Implemented
Enhancing Expertise and Establishing an Organic Collaboration System
New 'AX Group' Created for Network Infrastructure
On December 1, LG Uplus announced a 2026 organizational restructuring aimed at increasing the performance of its Artificial Intelligence Transformation (AX) business and strengthening the competitiveness of its core telecommunications operations.
The key focus of this restructuring is to "enhance expertise" and "establish an organic collaboration system." The company plans to separate product and business organizations in major business areas to increase specialization, and to shift to a collaboration system where related departments work organically around products.
The core business area, AX, will be divided into a "business organization" focused on the business portfolio and a "product organization" responsible for launching differentiated products.
The development organization supporting the AX business from a technical perspective will also be reorganized into dedicated teams for each major core business. The development organization under the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will share business and key objectives, with the goal of improving the competitiveness of service development. Through this, the company aims to shorten the time it takes for improved services to reach customers.
In the core telecommunications operations, represented by mobile and home services, as well as in the business-to-business (B2B) wired and wireless sectors, structural improvements have been made to enhance product competitiveness. To accelerate the digital transformation of the mobile business, the digital business and product organizations have been separated. For the home business, which includes home internet and IPTV, business and product functions have also been separated to boost efficiency. In the B2B sector, the product planning function for new key businesses, such as cloud security, has been established separately to strengthen expertise.
Restructuring will also be carried out to enhance the operational stability of the wired and wireless network infrastructure, which forms the foundation of the competitiveness of the telecommunications core business. Under the "NW Division," which oversees network infrastructure, a new "NW AX Group" will be established to build a globally leading network operation system.
Additionally, LG Uplus will implement structural changes to ensure organizational agility required for company-wide transformation. To respond flexibly to the rapidly changing business environment, the company will streamline its organizational structure and transition to a "large team system" by integrating departments with overlapping roles.
The company also plans to actively introduce "AI Work Agents" for internal operations to reduce simple, repetitive work and to create an environment where employees can focus on important work from the customer's perspective.
