Stage Revives the Lost 'Gwangdae Sogo Dance' in Jeonju on the 22nd
National Intangible Heritage Center Discovery Contest
75-Minute Performance Directed by Sung Hwajeong
The National Intangible Heritage Center will present the second stage of the Traditional Performance Director Discovery Contest 'Chulsapyo' at 4:00 p.m. on November 22 at the Jeonju Eolssu Maru Grand Theater.
The performance, titled 'Gwangdae Sogo Dance: BEATS of History,' is directed by Sung Hwajeong and depicts the journey of an artist searching for and recreating a lost dance. It reinterprets archival footage, traditional performances, Korean musical instrument performances, and dance with a modern sensibility. The cast includes Moon Jinsu (traditional dance), Park Soyeon (geomungo), So Jongho (actor), and Lee Gyuhyeok (dancer).
Director Sung Hwajeong stated, "By breathing new life into a vanished dance, I wanted the audience to feel the value of transmission."

The performance runs for 75 minutes and admission is free. Reservations can be made on the National Intangible Heritage Center website starting at 9:00 a.m. on November 12.
