With this selection, Hallym University College of Medicine will establish the "Hallym Next-Generation Convergence Medical Scientist Training Program (Undergraduate Track)" and will actively promote convergence research and integrated education through close collaboration with colleges of science and engineering.
Through these efforts, the university plans to systematically nurture convergence-type medical scientists from the undergraduate stage, with the goal of extending healthy life expectancy and improving quality of life.
To cultivate next-generation convergence-type medical scientists for future medicine, Hallym University College of Medicine will develop and operate core courses such as Introduction to Convergence Medical Science, Research Methodology in Convergence Medical Science, and Convergence Medical Science Research Rotation. The college will also establish a comprehensive support system for medical scientists centered on undergraduate students.
Dean Yoo Kyungho of Hallym University College of Medicine stated, "The 'Hallym Next-Generation Convergence Medical Scientist Training Program (Undergraduate Track)' is the first step toward nurturing innovative and proactive physician-scientists who will be responsible for the future of human health and regional healthcare. By providing diverse knowledge and technologies in future medicine, such as biomedical science, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, advanced medical materials, and robotics-based biomedical engineering, we will produce convergence-type medical scientists (physician-scientists plus science and engineering scientists). These efforts will contribute to Hallym University's leadership in medical and bio convergence research, one of the university's three major glocal convergence clusters."
