Jeonnam NongHyup Visits Raw Rice Procurement Sites During Harvest Season
Minimizing the Impact of Rice Stripe Disease Spread
Strengthening Quality Control
The Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of NongHyup visited the Okay Rice Center procurement site at Okcheon NongHyup in Haenam on October 20, as the procurement of raw rice for the 2025 public stockpiling program is now in full swing, to provide on-site guidance.
This on-site guidance session included Director Lee Gwangil, Okcheon NongHyup Cooperative President Yoon Chiyeong, Haenam County Branch Manager Ha Jeongpil, and other NongHyup officials. They reviewed the progress of the procurement process, listened to difficulties faced during the harvest season, and discussed possible solutions.
Meanwhile, in the Jeonnam region, rice stripe disease has recently occurred across approximately 13,330 hectares-about 4.1 times more than the previous year-raising concerns about a decline in rice milling yield and quality. In response, NongHyup is implementing a range of mitigation measures, including enhanced storage management by grade to prevent the mixing of damaged rice, compensation through disaster insurance riders, support for silicate fertilizer, and encouraging early harvesting.
