Beomeosa Seongbo Museum to Host Family Cultural Festival 'Yadanbeopseok' with Pre-Event One-Day Classes
Preview the Festival with the "Yadanbeopseok Beginning" One-Day Class
Hands-on Experiences and Performances Blending Buddhist Heritage and Traditional Culture on September 20
Beomeosa Seongbo Museum will host the family-friendly cultural and arts festival, "Beomeosa Yadanbeopseok," on September 20.
Prior to the festival, a pre-event program called "Yadanbeopseok Beginning" will be held as a one-day class on July 27 and August 24, giving citizens the opportunity to experience the festival's contents in advance.
"Yadanbeopseok Beginning" will take place in the Beomeosa Seongbo Museum's education room, with a total of 200 participants, 100 per day. Anyone can freely join on-site without prior registration.
Making its debut this year, "Beomeosa Yadanbeopseok" is designed to allow citizens to naturally enjoy traditional culture by reinterpreting Buddhist cultural heritage and local cultural resources in a modern way. On the day of the festival (September 20), a variety of experiences and performances will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the museum plaza area.
Experience programs include making mugs using sublimation transfer techniques, creating fabric eco-bags, coloring and assembling wooden book stands, making beaded bookmarks, and trying out the button press. Participants can receive experience kits using the festival's exclusive currency, "Beomeosa Coin," which can be earned through simple activities such as visiting the museum, completing missions in the play zone, or verifying participation on social media.
The performance program centers on traditional arts. There will be a pansori performance by vocalist Na Haeun and a performance by traditional piri musician Kim Jiyoon, offering the resonance of traditional arts. In addition, there will be a traditional play zone with games such as ttakjichigi, tuho, and jegichagi, as well as a large-scale coloring activity, community art, photo zones, rest areas, and free food trucks, providing a variety of attractions.
Venerable Sanhae Jungoh, the abbot of Geumjeong Chongnim Beomeosa and director of the Seongbo Museum, said, "The Yadanbeopseok festival is a new attempt where tradition and daily life meet," and added, "I hope citizens will learn about tradition, play, and enjoy culture at the museum."
