People Power Party Denies Involvement in Opinion Manipulation... Accuses Democratic Party of False Links
"Democratic Party's unreasonable attempt to link us
based on its own experience operating the 'Druking' comment manipulation team"
The People Power Party on May 31 denied reports alleging that it was involved in organized public opinion manipulation by far-right groups, stating, "We have no connection whatsoever with the group in question."
The Media and Legal Team of the People Power Party's Central Election Countermeasures Committee said in a statement that day, "The Democratic Party is making unreasonable attempts to forcibly link these groups with the People Power Party based on false information, drawing from its own experience operating the 'Druking' comment manipulation team."
Earlier that day, Cho Seungrae, spokesperson for the Democratic Party's Central Election Committee, held a briefing at a campaign site in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, citing an investigative report by Newstapa. He claimed, "It has been revealed that a far-right group supported candidate Kim Moonsu through organized public opinion manipulation," and added, "There is a strong possibility that candidate Kim and the People Power Party were not only assisted, but also involved in instigation and planning."
In response, the People Power Party's Media and Legal Team pointed out, "It should be noted that Newstapa attempted to intervene in the last presidential election through the 'Kim Manbae-Shin Hakrim fake interview.'"

The team continued, "There is now a flood of reports that uncritically echo the claims of Newstapa and the Democratic Party," and added, "We will take strict legal action against unfair and false reporting that could distort the will of the voters."
