Gijang-gun Supports Mental Health of Civil Complaints Officers... Four Psychological Counseling Sessions Conducted
Supporting Mental Health Recovery, Enhancing the Quality of Public Services
Busan Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) operated a ‘Psychological Counseling Program’ four times this year, where professional counselors visited civil servants in charge of civil complaints directly.
This program was established to protect the mental health of civil servants handling complaints who experience psychological difficulties such as stress from dealing with complainants or complaint-related tasks.
By operating a mental health counseling program in connection with the county mental health welfare center on a quarterly basis, it supports the recovery of the mental health of civil servants handling complaints due to excessive complaint tasks and an increase in unusual complaints.
The program consisted of ▲stress diagnosis ▲depression tests ▲counseling based on the results, and especially focused on creating conditions that prevent psychological damage to complaint-handling staff and allow them to concentrate on their duties.
Employees who participated in the program said, “It was a time to recharge ourselves by managing and healing stress and depression on our own.”

A Gijang-gun official said, “Recently, the repeated increase in unusual complaints has caused stress among some civil servants handling complaints to rise day by day. This directly affects the quality decline of public services,” adding, “We will strive to provide high-quality complaint services by supporting the mental health recovery of civil servants handling complaints in various ways.”
