Speaker of the National Assembly Woo Won-sik sent the list of four candidates for the Special Prosecutor for the Investigation of the Facts of the Treason Act through the Unconstitutional Emergency Martial Law Declaration (Permanent Special Prosecutor for Treason) to the Yongsan Presidential Office on the 11th.
At 5:53 p.m. on the same day, Speaker Woo sent the list of party-recommended members of the Permanent Special Prosecutor Candidate Recommendation Committee to the Presidential Office, according to the Public Relations Office of the Speaker of the National Assembly.
The Democratic Party of Korea recommended lawyers Lee Seok-beom and Choi Chang-seok, the Innovation Party recommended former Minister of Government Legislation Kim Hyung-eon, and the Progressive Party recommended Professor Lee Na-young of the Department of Sociology at Chung-Ang University.
Lawyer Lee previously served as vice president of the Lawyers for a Democratic Society (Minbyun), and Lawyer Choi, a former chief judge, was mentioned last year as a candidate to succeed former High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Office Chief Kim Jin-wook.
