Trump: "Iran's Nuclear Facilities Completely Destroyed... Excavating the Debris Will Be Difficult"
U.S. President Donald Trump claimed on April 20 (local time) that Iran's nuclear facilities had been completely destroyed.
President Trump stated on his social networking service, Truth Social, "Operation 'Midnight Hammer' has completely and thoroughly destroyed the nuclear dust facilities in Iran."
He added, "Excavating the debris will be a long and difficult process."
In June of last year, the United States carried out "Operation Midnight Hammer," utilizing B-2 bombers and other assets to bomb three major nuclear facilities in Iran.
Trump uses the term "nuclear dust" to refer to Iran's highly enriched uranium. Highly enriched uranium is a key issue in the end-of-war negotiations between the United States and Iran. On April 16, President Trump claimed that Iran had agreed to export its enriched uranium to the United States, but Iran maintains that it has never agreed to such terms.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that prior to U.S. and Israeli airstrikes in June of last year, Iran possessed approximately 441 kilograms of highly enriched uranium at 60% purity. Uranium enriched to 60% is considered weapons-grade material capable of producing nuclear weapons, and with further processing, even small quantities can be refined to over 90% purity to make a nuclear bomb.
Meanwhile, President Trump criticized, "Fake news CNN and other corrupt media networks and platforms are not giving our great pilots the credit they rightfully deserve. They are always trying to downplay and disparage them," adding, "They are losers."
