Yoon Hee-sook: "Not the time for People Power Party to count losses... Lee Jae-myung should also promise to accept court ruling"
"Ruling Party Must Communicate with Opposition to Normalize State Affairs"
"Opposition Must Promise to Accept Lee Jae-myung's Trial Outcome"
Former People Power Party lawmaker Yoon Hee-sook stated on the 10th that the People Power Party should cooperate with the opposition party on the condition of a change in the Democratic Party of Korea's attitude regarding measures to resolve the political situation. Yoon proposed suspending all impeachment schedules except for the president and suggested that Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, promise to accept the court's verdict.
On the same day, former lawmaker Yoon presented her own plan to resolve the political situation through social media (SNS).
First, she urged a change in the People Power Party's attitude. Yoon said, "The absence of People Power Party lawmakers from the impeachment vote appeared to the public as if they were weighing political pros and cons regardless of the truth," adding, "Now is not the time to be indecisive. We need to communicate with the opposition party to reassure the public and normalize state affairs as soon as possible."
Yoon emphasized, "The People Power Party should not be calculating petty gains now," and said, "The responsibility for failing to prevent the president's impulsive actions should be settled later; for now, do what needs to be done." She continued, "By receiving a promise from the opposition party to operate the National Assembly normally and deciding on presidential matters and future political schedules together with the opposition, we can provide stability to the public."
Regarding this, former lawmaker Yoon also demanded change from the opposition party.
She said, "The opposition party should cancel and suspend all ongoing impeachment attempts except those related to the president, and Lee Jae-myung must promise the public that he will not delay or obstruct his trial and will unconditionally accept the outcome." Additionally, she stated, "The standing committee chairs (Jung Cheong-rae, Choi Min-hee), who have turned the National Assembly into a gang fight, should be dismissed and the Assembly should be operated with at least minimal respect."
Regarding the recent resignation, former lawmaker Yoon also called for self-reflection and introspection within the political sphere.
Yoon said, "The political world is currently forgetting the most important point," and questioned, "Is returning to the night of the 3rd before the martial law declaration the normalization of state affairs?" She criticized issues such as the opposition party's unilateral budget cuts and the Democratic Party's attempt to abolish the false information disclosure system, which revealed Lee's privatization of power and retaliatory impeachment attempts.
