Prime Minister Han Ducksoo Attends Regulatory Innovation Strategy Meeting
On the 28th, Daejeon Mayor Lee Jangwoo requested active support from the central government for regulatory innovation at the Regulatory Innovation Strategy Meeting, which was presided over by Prime Minister Han Ducksoo and held at the Convergence Research Center of the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI).
Mayor Lee introduced Daejeon's representative achievements in regulatory innovation and presented future tasks such as easing floor restrictions in Daedeok Special Zone, improving overlapping reviews related to autonomous affairs, improving regulations on hydrogen production facilities, and rationalizing regulations on Daecheong Lake and green belts.
Through the 8th popularly elected administration's regulatory innovation, Daejeon City has achieved results such as exemption from startup fees in the science and technology service sector, reduction of the restriction period for preliminary social enterprise applications, relaxation of no-fly zones for the activation of the UAM (Urban Air Mobility) industry, allowing the construction of access roads within development-restricted areas, and raising the building coverage and floor area ratios in Daedeok Special Zone.
Mayor Lee Jangwoo said, "Regulatory innovation is a key task to enhance regional development, national competitiveness, and enrich the lives of the people," adding, "We will continue to realize innovative policies to strengthen regional development and national competitiveness."
The Regulatory Innovation Strategy Meeting is the highest decision-making body for government regulatory innovation, chaired by the President and vice-chaired by the Prime Minister. It serves as a forum for discussing the improvement of unnecessary regulations and the creation of new growth engines.
