KIT is a university student volunteer education group launched by KT to bridge the digital divide between regions. The 1st class of KIT consisted of 14 university students who visited island and mountainous areas such as Baengnyeong Middle and High School in Ongjin-gun, Incheon, and Seongdang Middle School in Iksan, Jeonbuk, to provide artificial intelligence (AI) coding education and mentoring.

The university students developed the educational curriculum themselves based on KT’s AI coding learning service platform called 'AI Codini' and provided practical and experiential education on the theme of 'AI and Digital Ethics.' They also offered special lectures on self-directed learning and one-on-one mentoring to give practical advice on career and academic concerns.

The graduation ceremony included activity reports and performance presentations by KIT, as well as awards for outstanding activity teams.

Kim Gijin (Hanyang University, 24 years old), a participant in KIT 1st class, said, "It was a new experience to communicate with middle school students on Baengnyeong Island, a place not easily accessible, using the AI curriculum we developed ourselves. I felt rewarded to be able to help as a mentor with concerns I had experienced during my school days."

Oh Taesung, Executive Director of KT ESG Management Promotion Office, said, "Through meetings with the KIT volunteer group, I hope students in island and mountainous areas build interest in AI and receive strong motivation to pursue their goals. We will continue to expand KIT’s activities and support the development of digital talents by visiting anywhere nationwide directly."
