POSCO E&C's 'The Sharp Gallery 2.0' Wins Consecutive Awards in Landscaping and Lighting Sections
Posco E&C's 'The Sharp Gallery 2.0,' which opened last September in Jagok-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, received praise for its landscaping and lighting that harmonize with nature.
On the 22nd, Posco E&C announced that the 'Hydrophilic Garden' of The Sharp Gallery 2.0 won the Minister of Environment Award in the private sector at the '2024 14th Korea Landscape Awards' hosted by the Environmental Landscape Development Foundation on the 11th.
The project was highly evaluated for its unique design concept that connects water-friendly spaces from the rooftop garden on the 5th floor to the ground-level welcome garden, expressing sustainability against climate change and the virtuous cycle of landscaping.
Additionally, on the 10th, it received the Grand Prize at the '13th Seoul Good Light Awards' hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, recognizing its contribution to improving the nighttime environment into a pleasant and beautiful space. The 'Landscape Lighting and Media Facade' of The Sharp Gallery 2.0 minimizes light pollution through lighting installations integrated with architectural finishing materials and is designed to harmonize media content with landscape lighting.
The Sharp Gallery 2.0 consists of four floors featuring various themed gardens and landscaping, from an outdoor rooftop garden to a healing forest and a welcome pond, both indoors and outdoors. The curved exterior panels create a unique urban landscape with light that changes depending on the viewing angle, while the transparent glass curtain walls are illuminated by beautiful landscape lighting. Various exhibitions and events are held regularly, establishing it as a complex cultural space that communicates with customers.
A Posco E&C official said, "It is meaningful that our planning intentions to improve the urban nighttime environment through harmonious architectural and lighting design and to create a complex cultural space with landscaping designed with sustainability in mind have been recognized," adding, "We will continue to be 'The Sharp' that engages with our customers."
