Professor Lee Jong-hyuk's Team at Sejong University Receives Approval for New Security Technology Development at International Conference
Approval of Two New Standard Technologies
Simultaneous Development of Next-Generation Security Standard Technologies
Sejong University announced on the 7th that the new standard technology proposed by Professor Jonghyuk Lee's team from the Department of Information Security was approved for development at the international meeting of the ITU-T Study Group 17 (SG17) on Information Security, held in Geneva, Switzerland, from the 2nd of last month.
ITU-T SG17 is a study group under the United Nations (UN) responsible for overseeing information security technology standards. The biannual international meetings provide a platform for developing and reviewing international cybersecurity standards.
At this meeting, Professor Lee's team proposed next-generation blockchain security technologies: 'Blockchain-based smart manufacturing security for protecting industrial Internet of Things data' and 'Blockchain-based invoice security for specifications issued through smart contracts.' Both technologies were approved for development.
Professor Lee, who leads the Protocol Engineering Laboratory at Sejong University, had previously received approval for three security standard technologies at past ITU-T SG17 international meetings and is currently developing them. With this recent approval, he has achieved the development of a total of five next-generation security standard technologies simultaneously.
