Oh Se-hoon Directly Hits the Democratic Party Special Prosecutor: "Are They Trying to Get Lee Jae-myung Off the Hook?"
'Democratic Control of the Judiciary or Control by the Democratic Party?' Criticism
Democratic Party Proposes Special Prosecutor Law over Alleged Prosecutorial Negligence in North Korea Remittance Case
Oh Se-hoon: "The Special Prosecutor for Lee Hwa-young Is to Push Prosecutorial Investigations That Don't Suit Their Taste"
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon directly criticized the Democratic Party of Korea and its leader Lee Jae-myung, who proposed a special prosecutor law to investigate the 'alleged coercion of former Gyeonggi Province Peace Deputy Governor Lee Hwa-young.'
On the 4th, Mayor Oh wrote on his Facebook under the title "Is this democratic control over the judiciary or control by the Democratic Party?" stating, "Is Leader Lee Jae-myung trying to get a 'preemptive pardon' through the so-called Lee Hwa-young special prosecutor law, which was proposed four days before the first trial verdict of the 'Ssangbangwool illegal remittance to North Korea' case?" He added, "Isn't Leader Lee also suspected of a judicial deal where he received a not guilty pardon in a false information disclosure case through former Supreme Court Justice Kwon Soon-il, who is accused of the 5 billion won club charges?" and criticized, "Having been in politics for 25 years, I often witness strange politics that I had never heard or seen before."
In particular, Mayor Oh pointed out problems with the special prosecutor law and expressed concerns that it could pressure the judiciary. He said, "The essence of the Lee Hwa-young special prosecutor law proposed by the Democratic Party is to investigate the prosecution team that does not suit their taste," and questioned, "Is the 'democratic control over the judiciary' that the Democratic Party talks about truly 'the Democratic Party's control over the judiciary'?"
He continued, "The Democratic Party's offensive, which continues with special prosecutors, street protests, and candlelight vigils, is threatening the constitutional order of separation of powers at its root," emphasizing, "The National Assembly is a legislative body, not a special prosecutor office."
The Democratic Party's Special Countermeasures Team for Political Prosecution Fabrication Cases proposed the 'Special Prosecutor Law on Prosecution Fabrication of North Korean Remittance' the day before. The bill stipulates that the special prosecutor should investigate 'suspicions of the prosecution's poor investigation into the case of former Ssangbangwool Group Chairman Kim Sung-tae's remittance to North Korea,' and 'allegations that the prosecution forced false testimony and coerced former Gyeonggi Province Peace Deputy Governor Lee Hwa-young.'
Previously, the prosecution indicted former Deputy Governor Lee on suspicion of Ssangbangwool's remittance to North Korea, and the first trial verdict is three days away. During the investigation and trial process, the involvement of Leader Lee Jae-myung, who was the governor at the time, became controversial. The former Deputy Governor Lee's side is claiming coercion by the prosecution during the trial.

Meanwhile, Prosecutor General Lee Won-seok met with reporters on his way home the day before and said, "This kind of special prosecutor is pressure on the prosecution and the judiciary." He strongly criticized, defining it as a "judicial obstruction special prosecutor," and said, "I find it very regrettable."
