Park Yong-jin: "Former President Moon comforted during nomination and primary process... I will stand at the center of regime change"
"Politics is about contemplating the livelihood economy even amid inner loneliness"
On the 7th, Park Yong-jin, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, visited Yangsan-eul, Gyeongnam, to pay a courtesy call on former President Moon Jae-in. Park said, "The President offered various words of comfort and encouragement regarding the recent nomination and primary processes."
During this general election nomination process, Park received a bottom 10% evaluation, resulting in a 30% deduction, and after losing two primaries, when all competing candidates were eliminated, the electoral district was ultimately designated as a strategic district, excluding him from the nomination. After these twists and turns, Park is currently campaigning by visiting fiercely contested and difficult constituencies. Park said, "(Former President Moon) gave many pieces of advice on the role the Democratic Party should play in winning the general election and in the process of regime change, as well as the role I, Park Yong-jin, should fulfill." He added, "I told him that I will stand at the center of the Democratic Party's victory in the general election and, furthermore, the regime change led by the Democratic Party, becoming a hope for the people." He continued, "I also told the President that I hope he will teach me a lot so that we can protect the hope of Korean politics and the Democratic Party in the future."
Following former President Moon’s recommendation, Park purchased the books Economic Stories Not Told by Economic Newspapers (author Im Ju-young) and You Will Be Lonely Again (author Gong Ji-young), saying, "I believe elections are about choosing what kind of world and economy I want." He added, "To properly understand the different economy and world that election results create, I bought these books first." Regarding Gong’s essay collection, he said, "Although Gong has faced many conflicts, attacks, and criticisms, I was moved by the President’s recommendation that I could see his strengthened inner self and deepened reflections, which made me want to read it."

Park said, "The phrase from the President’s recommendation, 'Truth is often lonely. That is why I empathize with his loneliness,' resonated with me," adding, "Perhaps politics is about fiercely contemplating what the people’s livelihood economy is, even amid the loneliness experienced within oneself."
