Russian Foreign Ministry Summons South Korean Ambassador to Protest Independent Sanctions
On the 5th (local time), the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it summoned the Ambassador of South Korea to Russia to protest against the unilateral sanctions imposed by the South Korean government on Russian vessels and others.
According to Sputnik News, Andrey Rudenko, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, told Lee Do-hoon, the Ambassador of South Korea to Russia, that "the South Korean government's unilateral sanctions imposed on Russian vessels, individuals, and entities on the 2nd are unfriendly measures." Deputy Minister Rudenko urged the South Korean government to abandon unproductive and coercive actions that escalate tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
On the 2nd, the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it would include two Russian vessels involved in transporting military supplies between North Korea and Russia, two Russian organizations involved in dispatching North Korean workers in information technology (IT), and two individuals as targets of unilateral sanctions.
