President Yoon Expected to Veto Yellow Envelope Act and Broadcasting 3 Laws... Interim Cabinet Meeting Tomorrow
President Yoon Suk-yeol is expected to exercise the veto power (the right to reject a bill) on the Yellow Envelope Act and the Broadcasting Three Acts.
According to the government on the 30th, Prime Minister Han Duck-soo will hold an extraordinary Cabinet meeting on the morning of the 1st of next month to submit the reconsideration request for the Yellow Envelope Act (amendments to Articles 2 and 3 of the Labor Union Act) and the Broadcasting Three Acts (amendments to the Broadcasting Act, the Broadcasting Culture Promotion Act, and the Korea Educational Broadcasting System Act).
Earlier, on the 9th, opposition parties including the Democratic Party of Korea passed the Yellow Envelope Act and the Broadcasting Three Acts at the National Assembly plenary session. The deadline for processing the two bills is until the 4th of next month.
If President Yoon exercises his veto on the two bills, it will be the third time since his inauguration. Previously, President Yoon exercised the veto power on the amendment to the Grain Management Act and the enactment of the Nursing Act.
