Park Su-young "Lee Gyun-yong Rejection, Democratic Party Also Holding Judiciary Back"
On the 6th, the plenary session rejected the appointment approval of Lee Gyunyong
Park Su-young, a member of the People Power Party, criticized the Democratic Party of Korea on the 6th for blocking the appointment approval of Supreme Court Chief Justice nominee Lee Gyun-yong at the National Assembly, saying, "The Democratic Party is now obstructing even the judiciary."
On that day, the appointment approval motion for nominee Lee, which was submitted to the plenary session, was rejected with 118 votes in favor, 175 against, and 2 abstentions out of 295 members present.
The appointment approval requires a majority of the total members to be present and a majority of the members present to vote in favor. Since the Democratic Party and the Justice Party decided to oppose the motion as their party stance, a large number of opposition votes led to this result.
