Haenam-gun Operates Walking Challenge for All Residents, 'Nilliri Manbo'
Walking 7,000 Steps a Day for 2 Weeks... Success Incentives Provided
Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan) is operating a walking challenge for all residents called ‘Nilliri Manbo’.
According to the county on the 4th, this challenge, conducted to promote health through walking exercise, will be held for all residents from the 13th to the 27th using the WalkOn app.
Participants can join the challenge by installing the WalkOn app on their smartphones and pressing the ‘Join Nilliri Manbo Protecting the Earth’ button under the Haenam-gun section. The reservation period is from the 4th to the 12th.
Those who achieve the challenge goal of walking more than 7,000 steps per day per person will receive a Haenam Love Gift Certificate worth 10,000 KRW as a success incentive.
According to the 2022 Community Health Statistics, the walking practice rate in Haenam-gun is 33.1%, which is lower than that of Jeollanam-do (44.7%), but it has increased by 7.4% compared to 25.7% in 2021.
The walking practice rate refers to the percentage of people who walked for more than 30 minutes a day for at least 5 days in the past week.

A county official said, “Walking exercise not only helps prevent and manage obesity but also has many benefits for mental health improvement, such as preventing cardiovascular diseases, relieving stress, and reducing feelings of depression and anxiety,” adding, “We hope this challenge will be an opportunity for residents to practice a healthy lifestyle on their own.”
