Ministry of Education to Streamline School Committees to Reduce Teachers' Administrative Workload
Consultation on Financial Support for Separating Disruptive Students
Reorganization Focused on Key Special Grant Projects
The Ministry of Education plans to reorganize various committees to reduce teachers' administrative tasks at schools. It also intends to support schools in autonomously operating dedicated organizations at the school level.
On the 25th, the Ministry of Education announced these plans through a press release. It explained that the content reflects feedback from on-site teachers gathered during the '2nd Deputy Prime Minister-Field Teachers Dialogue' held at the Government Seoul Office on the 22nd.
First, the Ministry will consult with metropolitan and provincial offices of education to provide administrative and financial support necessary for separating students who disrupt classes. Based on requests from field teachers, the agreed contents will also be reflected in the student life guidance official commentary.
Additionally, the Ministry will review the reorganization of various committees. School committees have long been pointed out as a cause of workload. The Ministry plans to investigate and analyze school committees and promote the reorganization of committees, including the integration or abolition of non-statutory committees with low necessity for establishment and operation.

Support projects at the school level, such as pilot and research schools, will be minimized, and the processes of project application, result reporting, and execution settlement will be simplified. The project implementation method will be changed from the existing Ministry-led approach to a policy menu format where metropolitan and provincial offices of education select projects, thereby expanding the autonomy of these offices in project operation.
Public offering projects and purpose-specific projects targeting schools by metropolitan and provincial offices of education and education support offices will be reduced, and school operation expenses will be expanded and encouraged to be granted as a lump sum.
Furthermore, support will be provided to activate the operation of dedicated school support organizations within metropolitan and provincial offices of education and education support offices. By December this year, the Ministry will revise related laws to support the stable operation of dedicated school support organizations and prepare support measures to promote the establishment and operation of these organizations, including personnel reallocation.
